Job Description:
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for performing construction related electrical power, lighting, and low voltage system engineering tasks for electrical construction projects, under the direct supervision of a Senior Electrical Engineer or Senior Electrical Designer as assigned by the Corporate Engineering Manager.
Essential Functions:
h Performs detailed electrical engineering calculations to compute and establish construction standards and specifications.
h Prepares and studies technical drawings, and electrical specifications to ensure that installations and designs conform to standards and customer requirements.
h Plans layout of electrical construction projects.
h Conducts field surveys and studies diagram and other data to identify and correct power system problems.
h Confers with internal and external customers to discuss existing or potential construction projects.
h Provides guidance to ensure that construction activities comply with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
h Inspects completed installations to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications.
h Compiles data and writes reports regarding existing and potential engineering studies and projects.
h Operates computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
h Provides guidance to Engineers and Designers-Levels 1 & 2.
Education and
Experience:
h Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering; and five years progressive electrical engineering related experience; and a Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) for the state in which employed.
Skills and Abilities:
h Must be proficient in the use of a PC and Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
h AutoCAD knowledge is required.
h Good math and problem solving skills are required.
h Good interpersonal skills and effective oral and written communication skills are required.
h Ability to read & interpret blueprints is necessary.
h Knowledge of electrical terminology and components is necessary.
h Knowledge of electrical terminology and symbols is necessary.
h Knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) is necessary.
h Knowledge of the International Energy Code (IEC) is necessary.
Bottom Line Requirements:
1. Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
2. 5
years progressive electrical engineering related experience on construction projects.
3. Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.).
4. AutoCAD knowledge.
5. Experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
6. Knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) and International Energy Code (IEC).Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
