About the role:
Senior Mobile Application Developer is responsible and accountable for the coding and quality of android apps that make up complex systems serving GM's customers, suppliers, manufacturing facilities, and dealers.
Senior Web Application Developers will work independently and under the direction of senior IT architects & management while contributing to multi-layered solution architectures that comprehend and specify business, application, data and infrastructure designs.
Responsibilities:
Working directly with business and developers to conceptualize, build, test and realize products
Gather requirements around functionality and translate those requirements into elegant functional solutions
Build quick prototypes at plan stage of projects
Working along the web developers to create and maintain a robust framework to support the apps
Working with the front end developers to build the interface with focus on usability features
Create compelling device specific user interfaces and experiences
Standardizing the platform and in some cases apps to deliver across multiple brands with minimal duplication of effort optimizing performance for the apps
Keep up to date on the latest industry trends in the mobile technologies
Explain technologies and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Qualifications
Minimum
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or related experience
At least 10 years developing enterprise applications in Java
Strong Android mobile app development experience for tablets and phones.
OO design and programming skills in Java and proven hands on experience working with Android SDK, Eclipse
Hands on experience with web service integration (SOAP, REST, JSON, XML)
Expert knowledge of database modeling and data structure principles, techniques and best practices.
Demonstrated expert knowledge in building, debugging and maintaining mission critical enterprise applications.
Ability to lead software development teams with both technical expert and metrics-based approaches
Commercial software development experience - desktop and mobile
Published examples of mobile applications on the Android market
Excellent knowledge in information architecture, human computer interaction and usability design principles
A track record of delivering successful consumer and or business products
Ability to use analytic data and user testing to inform design decision
Preferred
Qualifications:
A bachelor's or master's degree in a technical discipline
Demonstrated expert knowledge in multiple software development disciplines (i.e. Agile, Scrum, SDLC)
Experience developing in HTML5
