About the ILM Data Archiving team:
The Global Database, Architecture, and Tools organization is transforming information technology at General Motors by delivering integrated IT for IT that is used to plan, build, and run the business of IT globally. As part of this talented team of IT professionals, the ILM Data Archiving team will accelerate application rationalization, reduce risk, and optimize IT operations by providing a state of the art platform for Information Lifecycle Management.
About the role:
The Data Architect will be responsible for analyzing source systems, identifying dormant data to be archived and/or purged, and determining the optimal approach for archival and retrieval of the data. They will also be responsible for the architectural design and data models for critical components of Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) solutions that include database-to-database archiving, database-to-file archiving, query design, records management, consolidated archive, and advanced analytics.
The ideal Data Architect should be able to:
define and develop architectural design for ILM tools and related software
create conceptual, logical, and physical data models
analyze complex structured and unstructured data sources
define archive entities, processes, business rules, and workflows
collect and analyze data that is generated during the delivery process
manage requirements, plans, priorities, and tasks using agile methods
communicate effectively with stakeholders and teams that they support
act as a change agent to drive direction and adoption of tool strategies
Qualifications
Minimum
Qualifications:
BS in Computer Science or technical discipline preferred
Proficient in conceptual, logical, and physical architecture and design of structured and unstructured data models for complex enterprise systems
Experience with data management and modeling tools and technologies
Preferred
Qualifications:
Knowledge of Information Lifecycle Management policies and practices
Mastery of database archive and purge strategies and/or ETL design
Experience with information lifecycle management and governance tools (e.g. HP Structured Data Manager, HP Records Manager, HP Consolidated Archive, HP Autonomy IDOL, IBM Optim Archive, IBM Optim Test Data Management, IBM InfoSphere Discovery, Informatica Data Archive, OpenText Archiver)
Experience with relational databases (e.g. Oracle, DB2, SQL Server)
Knowledge of big data analytics platforms, NoSQL databases, distributed file systems, and ETL tools (e.g. HP Vertica, Teradata, Hadoop, DataStage)
Experience with enterprise software suites (e.g. SAP, Oracle, SharePoint)

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
