POSITION PURPOSE -
The Sr Manager Accounting manages a department comprised of 100 -120 salaried and hourly associates and oversees the management of the daily operations of Revenue Accounting and related activities for over 1,600 stores. This persons guides the departmental transition to automated, exception based processes, participates in planning/implementation of essential systems development projects and initiatives, plans/establishes departmental goals, and drives process improvement.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -
Maintain productivity, key performance standards and manage month-end close process
Develop and utilize analytical, financial and operational reporting Maintain departmental budget / headcount and resolve associate relation issues
Develop, plan and drive departmental organization, goals and objectives
Develop and implement ongoing systems initiatives
Drive process improvement
Develop, train and coach associates on self development and networking
NATURE AND SCOPE -
Typically reports to Vice-President - Corporate Controller
Accountable for the management of a department or functional group through subordinate supervisors/managers and for all personnel issues -- including selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development of subordinates.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Located in a comfortable indoor area.
Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Examples include: telephone operator and file clerk.
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Must be eighteen years of age or older
Must pass the Drug Test
Must pass the Background Check
Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable
EDUCATION REQUIRED -
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 6
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about.
On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -
A Master's Degree is preferred. CBM / CPA / MBA preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES -
Degree in Accounting or Finance CBM / CPA / MBA preferred 10
years finance
Accounting experience, including 7
years management
Leadership experience
Broad based business knowledge, including; business development, retail, legal, international, economics, decision making, critical thinking, change management, innovation, negotiating skills
Prior experience with process improvement and systems development projects
Proven record of high performance and excellent leadership skillsEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
