Job Description:
Supports the Assistant Vice President of State Affairs in fulfilling Emory's advocacy priorities at the state level of government. Assists in the development of OGCA's legislative priorities prior to the state session. During the state legislative session, is responsible for bill tracking, monitoring committee meetings, scheduling caucus appearances and meal sponsorships and provides updates to the Assistant Vice President of State Affairs and the Vice President of OGCA. Coordinates and plans tours of Emory for external stakeholders at the state level of government. Serves as the OGCA lead on certain state-sponsored projects as directed by the Assistant Vice President of State Affairs. Attends Emory, government, and external functions on behalf of OGCA as needed to interact and develop relationships in Emory's best interests. Develops and maintains working relationships with key state legislative offices. Produces research analysis and creates background materials, as directed, to support the Assistant Vice President of State Affairs to ensure coordination across the OGCA team, as well as the entire institution. Creates educational material for legislators and staffers by working with offices across campus to gather and distill pertinent information. At the direction of the Assistant Vice President of State Affairs, works with the state consultants in advancing Emory's legislative priorities. Works closely with Emory's state associations -- attends meetings, identifies issues of interest to Emory, and communicates with internal Emory stakeholders regarding association activity. Informs internal stakeholders of legislative priorities by participating in weekly telephone calls with leadership across campus. Keeps leadership and key individuals across varied disciplines apprised of legislative action. Runs and manages OGCA's social media accounts to amplify Emory's positions and priorities. Performs related responsibilities as required. MINIMUM
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree Six years of experience in a state legislative working environment. A thorough knowledge of the legislative process and the roles of a major research university desirable. Organizational skills and attention to detail is important, individual should possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
Government & MilitaryEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
