Position Overview The North America Legal team for Novelis Corporation is seeking candidate for a Associate Counsel position at its headquarters in Atlanta, GA. The Legal Counsel is a multi-functional position that provides strategic legal advice, counsel, and services to the NNA Management Team, Plant Management, and the Novelis Inc. Worldwide Group. The primary focus of the position involves the management and resolution of contractual issues and commercial disputes, and the handling of other legal matters to anticipate and address legal issues, and ensure that Novelis' risks and liabilities are minimized while promoting business interests. The position would also support managing outside counsel and litigation proceedings, supervising remediation matters in North America, training employees on legal and corporate compliance matters and special project management. Responsibilities Strategic and practical legal advice and counseling to the Novelis North America Management Team, all Business Value Stream and Functional Leaders and Plant Management to support all North America corporate and operational functions to ensure that the Regional legal needs and business interests and objects are protected. Handling strategic commercial and business contract arrangements with suppliers and customers, including the planning, structuring, analysis, negotiation, review, drafting and implementation of strategic commercial arrangements across all Value Streams and Functions. Legal counsel, leadership and commercial mentorship in support of NNA commercial initiatives, and support to corporate global functions, as vital, consistent with company contracts management policies and procedures, and providing training and compliance initiatives. Supervising and implementing general risk management and litigation avoidance strategies, while staying ahead of legal and regulatory changes to optimally communicate issues and solutions across all levels of the business organization. Delivering strategic mentorship, counsel, advice and assistance on a variety of sophisticated commercial transactions and arrangements, and multi-functional support in multiple areas using legal skills. Implementing avoidance strategies and influencing business managers to adopt standard methodologies as vital. Responsibilities & Qualifications Qualifications Juris Doctor degree from accredited U.S. law school Minimum 4 years' experience as in-house counsel or with litigation law firms Excellent contract negotiation and drafting skills, as well as creativity to resolve contract issues Experience negotiating sophisticated contracts, and resolving disputes, is highly valued, as is experience counseling organizations on compliance issues Detail-oriented and ability to manage transactions and projects simultaneously under deadline pressure Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, leadership skills, and the ability to build and sustain lasting relationships with customers and management
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
