Application Developer

The role of the Application Developer is vital to the successful implementation and maintenance of interfaces into our Customer Information System (CIS) through an Integration Hub. The Application Developer for the CIS Integration Hub is responsible for system analysis, design and implementation of business shared services in support of CIS integration projects. The candidate needs to have in-depth, hands-on knowledge of Oracle SOA Suite, J2EE, SOA, and integration standards and best practices. The candidate should possess the capability of leading comprehensive integration solutions using Oracle Middleware as the core and provide technical consulting to management, business analysts, and technical associates, while working in coordination with the architecture and development team. This includes the system architecture, documentation of system impacts and testing requirements. This position is responsible for the daily analysis and identification of system problems and the appropriate corrective actions. The role is also responsible for the stability, performance, and scalability of the Integration Hub. The candidate is expected to be a reliable technical professional that can handle job responsibilities autonomously in a team environment and demonstrate the capability to be innovative and strategic. The Application Developer position will be in the Customer Service System (CSS) Integration and Evolution Team within the Southern Company Services Electric Technology Solutions Organization. The candidate chosen will be expected to support Customer Service and Marketing evolution projects. Duties include:
Deliver integration solutions leveraging the capability of SOA expertise for clients across application processes while adhering to the enterprise architecture, data security and data management standards Implement integration solutions leveraging tools within the Oracle Middleware suite:
SOA 12.2g (BPM, BAM, BPEL Process Manager, Web Services Manager, ESB, OSB, ODI, OSR, and various adapters), as well as J2EE Diagnosing and troubleshooting issues leveraging the middleware consoles, alerts, system logs, and other monitors and responding to errors and other problem conditions in a timely and effective manner to prevent unnecessary performance issues or other operational delays Consulting with middleware developers and architects as needed to facilitate business needs as well as debugging of interfaces Automating routine maintenance/administrative tasks wherever possible Supporting multiple production and support environments as well as a number of development and test environments for large projects Maintaining disaster recovery environments and procedures Participating in a 24 x 7 on-call rotation for after hour support JOB REQUIREMENTS Educational Requirements:
BS is required. Major in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other technical field. Experience Requirements:
Experience with Oracle SOA Suite Experience with Oracle Fusion Suite is a plus Experience with J2EE and IDEs Excellent understanding of XML, XSD, XSLT, WSDL, and WSDL versioning best practices Strong understanding of Service Oriented Architecture concepts Experience with designing reusable, high performing object oriented solutions Experience in monitoring, tuning, and maintaining Oracle Databases Working knowledge of a full software development lifecycle Deliver integration solutions leveraging the capability of SOA expertise for clients across application processes while adhering to the enterprise architecture, data security and data management standards Excellent understanding of Enterprise RDBMS, ER Diagrams, and developing SQL programs Strong analysis skills with ability to identify and document detailed business requirements Excellent root cause analysis skills & problem solving skills Excellent customer service skills Effectively organizes tasks, manages multiple priorities/details, and meets tight deadlines Effective communication (verbal/written) and leadership skills for effective interaction between power users within business units and other IT counterparts Builds productive relationships with a focus on cooperation & teamwork Experience in the utility industry specifically in the Customer Service space is a plus Experience with ETL products such as Informatica is a plus Visual Basic, Visual Studio .Net, and/or C# experience beneficial but not required JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Support ongoing daily use of Oracle SOA Suite environment Ability to operate effectively in a team environment Develop, implement, integrate, and/or support technology solutions in a manner that meets or exceeds customer expectations for quality, cost, and timeliness Ensure required documentation for projects is developed Communicate effectively and timely with customers, team members, and management Maintain technical proficiency in the technologies the application utilizes as well as those used by integrations and interfaces Maintain current state knowledge of configuration settings, software versions, patch levels, etc. and ensure application documentation remains current and complete Maintain effective ongoing relationships between the SME and business and technical support groups. Ensure Life Cycle status is maintained at appropriate levels Maintain an understanding of the data content and underlying data structures in the solution Collaborate with end users to identify needs and opportunities for enhanced functionality and capabilities Be able to effectively lead collaboration of other technical resources in trouble shooting and investigation when significant issues occur with assigned applications and their integrations Adhere to Change Management policies and procedures Respond quickly & effectively to all operational problems Build effective relationships with peers, management, and customers Display Southern Style
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Software DevelopmentEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
