Our group is responsible for building software and services that help customers run and scale their containerized applications.
We own fully managed container orchestration services such as Amazon ECS and Amazon EKS, AWS Fargate -- a serverless compute engine for containers, Amazon Elastic Container Registry (ECR), and App Mesh -- a service mesh that provides application-level networking.
The Amazon Linux team is responsible for the Amazon Linux and Bottlerocket distributions to ensure our customers have a secure and high quality environment for their Linux and Container applications.

As a System Development Engineer you will work with technical leaders to define technical direction, hire and develop the skills of the teams you lead, and own the delivery of the products and programs they're tasked with.
You are equally comfortable leading small, focused project teams as well as making major direct contributions to the project.
You deliver features, both directly and through the teams you lead, with minimal direct oversight.
You are also adept at recruiting and developing bar-raising talent.
The baseline individual for this role will be entirely comfortable with the Linux operating system and understand how to develop in languages such as Go, Rust, Java, C++, Ruby, and Python in a Linux environment.
Experience with Linux package management, understanding of and experience in contributing to open source projects, knowledge of the use, design, and development of Linux operating system internals, including the kernel and hypervisor are a plus.

This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every two months.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
