Mechanical Engineer

Description Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team and work out of our headquarters in downtown Atlanta, GA. Mechanical Engineers provide technical expertise and project engineering as required to support the Gypsum Division capital execution plan and operations. The position will be responsible for mechanical project development, design, procurement, construction, and start-up of various projects within the Gypsum division. There are 13 wallboard and 3 industrial plaster facilities across the US. The position adds value in the development and execution of large and small plant improvement projects that support initiatives to improve safety, efficiency, reliability, waste reduction and increased machine utilizationRequired approximately 30% travel What You Will Do In Your RoleExecution of large and small plant improvement projectsProvide advanced engineering expertise to solve problems and implement changes at multiple operationsDeveloping scope, designing, constructing, purchasing, and installing or modifying existing equipmentProvide field support including construction supervision, equipment commissioning and troubleshooting of equipment breakdownsAbility to effectively communicate with internal customers and leadershipEnsures all activities conform to Market Based Management (MBM) and the Guiding PrinciplesThe Experience You Will BringRequirements:
Three (3) or more years of project engineering, and/or building products manufacturing experienceExperience in machine design, power transmission, material handling, steel fabrication design, project development and independent project management.AutoCAD and/or Inventor and MS Office proficiencyOne (1) or more years of experience with scheduling and monitoring of engineering and construction activitiesExperience with estimating construction costs - ability to take a Project Scope Documents and develop cost for mechanical equipment, mechanical materials, and mechanical labor costs.Experience with estimating engineering costs and schedules - ability to take a Project Scope and develop a list Engineering Deliverables and manhours to develop along with a schedule to develop.This role will not support visa sponsorship What Will Put You AheadBachelor's Degree in Engineering; Mechanical engineering preferredProject Management experienceExperience in a manufacturing plant environmentPrevious Gypsum experienceExperience with material crushing and grinding equipmentExperience with Computerized Maintenance Management systems (CMMS); MP2 desiredOur goal is for each employee, and their families, to live fulfilling and healthy lives. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
