Summary:
The Underwriting Senior Consultant I is responsible for the evaluation of quotes and policies from an underwriting perspective and makes decisions for risk acceptability, pricing, terms and conditions for new business and renewals.
In addition, this role has the authority to approve or decline risks based on established guidelines and within individual authority level.
Key
Responsibilities:
Performs risk reviews and upfront underwriting reviews to determine risk acceptability Make decisions on risk acceptability and/or pricing as outlined by the underwriter's level of authority Serves as point of contact for all exceptions (agents, sups, TSM, Pricing, Marketing, Etc ) Works with Regional Sales Managers and Commercial Product Managers and Analysts to accomplish growth and profit objectives Maintains significant involvement with underwriting and processing of new business and renewals Identifies tactical opportunities for growth by analyzing current procedures and guidelines and offers input into product decisions and automation enhancements Generates growth ideas and recommends changes for all Commercial agents Documents and communicates underwriting guidelines, philosophies, and decisions with Pricing, Marketing, Compliance, etc.
Develops and analyzes both internal and external data for assigned business segment(s) and line(s) of business in order to direct pricing, underwriting, and sales decisions Assists with Reviews on agent's books of business for book roll opportunities by quoting policies and determined acceptability, pricing, and risk management opportunities Mentors and assists with the training of new underwriters and underwriting assistants Supervisory

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent 3 or more years of experience, preferably with Products Certificates, Licenses, Registrations None Functional Skills Experience in training large or small groups and/or public speaking Effective verbal and written communication skills Must perform well in high-energy, dynamic and team-oriented environments Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Willingness to pursue Insurance professional designations such as IIC, CPCU, AU,and/or ARM #LI-LS2#LI-RemoteNational General prides itself on offering our employees a robust Total Rewards package which includes base salary.
The base range offered for the role is:
$61,500.
00 - $120,000.
00 and may vary based on internal equity, and job-related skills, knowledge and experience; among other factors.
Other financial components may be added as part of the competitive compensation package, in addition to a full range of benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
