RemoteJob Summary Partners with assigned agents to support the profitability and growth of their agencies through sound underwriting practices.
Educates agents about commercial insurance products and assists in developing effective business plans.
Performs work with limited guidance from senior team members or a supervisor.
Essential Job Functions Travels to assigned agencies to support agents with their profitability, growth, and business retention objectives.
Uses working knowledge of commercial insurance products to educate agents and assist with designing effective business plans that incorporate sound underwriting practices.
Advises on underwriting philosophy, guidelines, practices, and risk appetite.
Collaborates to implement marketing plans and initiatives.
Trains agents and agency staff on property and casualty insurance products, with emphasis on commercial insurance.
Uses working knowledge of underwriting principles and practices to evaluate commercial insurance applications.
Analyzes data and assess applicant risk to determine coverage and premiums.
Makes decisions to approve or reject applications.
Underwrites commercial insurance policies within prescribed authority limits, up to the senior underwriting level.
Seeks guidance and support from senior underwriters on unique or complex commercial business.
Documents exceptions to established guidelines and important information related to underwriting decisions.
Analyzes market conditions to learn and understand the commercial insurance environment.
Uses market data and working knowledge of the insurance industry to recommend innovation and/or new product or service offerings.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical ActionsThis role, whether performed virtually or in an office setting, will include normal and customary distractions, noise, and interruptions.
Sits or stands for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift.
Occasionally reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
Occasionally moves, lifts, carries, and places objects and supplies weighing 0-10 pounds without assistance.
Listens to, interprets, and differentiates auditory information (example others speaking) at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
Visually verifies and reads information.
Visually locates material, resources and other objects.
Ability to continuously operate a computer for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift.
Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate keyboard and other office equipment up to a full work shift.
Education RequirementsHigh School Diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Other:
Insurance industry designation preferred, or completion of three sections from CPCU courses 500/510, 520 or 551, 552.
Experience Requirements3-5 years of commercial underwriting experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Sales or marketing experience within the insurance industry preferred.
