Job Title:
Litigation Paralegal Litigation Paralegal is responsible for providing legal paraprofessional support to the insurance defense practice group.
Responsibilities include managing litigation files from response to complaint through settlement or jury verdict.
Position
Summary:
Under the supervision of a licensed attorney, prepares legal drafts by assembling and organizing information for legal forms and documents, including complaints, declarations, discovery requests, responses, and other pleadings.
Assist with drafting litigation documents such affidavits, subpoenas, interrogatories, complaints, discovery, memos, etc.
Communication with clients, court clerks, expert witnesses, opposing counsel, attorney, treating facilities, etc.
Keep abreast of court calendar and docket, depositions, meetings, litigation documents, and all related case related timelines in case management system.
Summarize medical records and prepare chronologies.
Summarize depositions and prepare timelines.
Assist with court filings with state and federal courts.
Assist with compiling information and preparing statistics, charts, graphs and other summaries to detail the findings.
Locate and retain experts for independent medical examinations, site inspections, trials, etc.
Locate and retain investigators for surveillance, etc.
Assist with trial preparation including the assembly of exhibits, witness binders and appendices for depositions, jury instructions and court filings.
Compile legal documentation into files and maintain an organized and indexed filing.
system for complaints, discovery, and other exhibit material case file documents.
Assist with performing legal research using tools such as Lexis Nexis and/or Westlaw.
Assist with preparation of large photos, exhibits, audio and video production to be used in courtroom.
