Job Description:
Provides technical skills and expertise required to support and advance application and system software functions and hardware of the IT department.
Analyzes system performance and system failures including core dump analysis.
Interfaces with vendors to resolve system problems.
Directs the generation and maintenance of the installation of software and hardware systems.
Directs studies of projected enhancements to hardware and software.
Conducts studies and recommends enhancements to hardware and software infrastructure.
Architects and implements business continuity solutions in a 7x24 Tier 1 environment.
Supervises performance measurement and evaluation of computer systems.
Serves as a mentor to system software personnel.
Advises other System Software Specialist with respect to determination of possible solutions to work problems.
Job Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree and five years of operating systems analysis/administration experience OR seven years of operating systems analysis/administration experience.
Must be proficient in at least three operating systems currently used in production.

Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced VMware Engineer to join our team.
In this role, you will be responsible for deploying, configuring, and managing a large-scale enterprise VMware environment with over 6,000 VMs running Windows and Linux Operating Systems.
Your expertise in virtualization systems solutions and operational support will be critical in ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of our virtualized infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
Deploy, configure, and manage a large-scale enterprise VMware environment with over 6,000 VMs running Windows and Linux Operating Systems.
Provide hardware implementation and support for Cisco UCS environment.
Engineer virtualization system solutions for large enterprise applications, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
Offer operational virtualization support to other engineering teams, assisting them in leveraging VMware technologies effectively.
Utilize advanced knowledge of VMware SRM (Site Recovery Manager) to ensure business continuity and disaster recovery readiness.
Participate in weekend maintenance and on-call rotations, responding to critical incidents promptly.
Monitor VMware infrastructure servers, proactively identifying and addressing capacity constraints and performance issues.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conduct capacity planning exercises, ensuring scalability and resource optimization.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and configuration details for vSphere versions 6.

Utilize advanced scripting skills in at least one language (PowerShell or Python preferred) to automate tasks and streamline operations.
Perform VM creation, manage templates, snapshots, and ensure VM backups.
Familiarity with Avamar and vROps (vRealize Operations) is a big plus.
