General Description:
Lead the ongoing enhancement and execution of USI's ethical and corporate compliance programs.
Minimize regulatory, financial, and reputational risk.
Lead and manage the department's delivery of core legal services to support the success of USI's operational activities.
This role will formally report to the General Counsel but will have close engagement and dotted line reporting responsibilities to the Chief Compliance Officer.
Compliance Officer
Responsibilities:
o Manage USI's compliance with all relevant laws and regulations applicable to our business segments.
Ensure the company is following state and federal laws and industry-specific regulations.
o Responsible for all initiatives designed to bring cultural life to USI's ethical and business conduct standards, policies, and procedures.
o Work with external stakeholders, regulators, and auditors to ensure the company is meeting compliance obligations.
o Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures.
o Conduct compliance risk assessments and identify areas of potential risk.
o Coordinate with other departments to ensure that compliance efforts are effective and efficient.
o Conduct compliance training for employees, including leadership and producers.
o Monitor and review the company's compliance with policies and procedures.
o Respond to regulatory inquiries and audits.
o Report on compliance activities to senior management and the audit committee of the board of directors.
o Stay up to date on changes in laws and regulations related to the business.
Advise management and staff regarding the impact of such developments on business operations.
o Manage and oversee all activities and inquiries reported via the compliance hotline.
o Direct privacy program, investigate incidents, report breaches as necessary, and ensure compliance.
Core Legal Service Delivery
Responsibilities:
o Develop and maintain policies and standards for material commercial agreements.
Includes carrier, sub-broker, client, vendor, and other third-party agreements, including contract review and negotiation.
o Work with corporate leadership, other department personnel, and outside specialists as appropriate.
Lead the execution of strategies and plans designed to protect USI's IP and proprietary information.
o Proactively communicate with internal clients as needed regarding expectations of the legal work product and timeframes for completion of work.
o Create tools and develop training for legal, sales, and other teams to improve understanding of related legal issues.
o Attend seminars, workshops, and professional society meetings.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
o 5-7 years of experience directly related to compliance or risk management.
o Juris Doctor (J.
D.
) degree from an accredited law school required.
o Strong understanding of the insurance industry and the relevant laws and regulations.
o Member to at least one State Bar.
o Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
o Experience working with matter management platforms preferred.
o Must be extremely detailed oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.
o Superior organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
o Maintain knowledge related to the job function.
Includes participation in industry workshops, review of publications, satisfaction of CLE obligations, and independent study.
Compensation & Benefits Information:
Salary Range:
$220,000- $225,000 This is a bonus-eligible position with a target incentive of 25%USI is proud to offer a full-suite of benefits including medical, wellness, dental and vision, 401(k), flexible spending and health savings account, short and long-term disability, company- and employee-paid life insurance as well as other unique employer-sponsored and voluntary programs.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
