The Alumni Association falls under University Advancement and supports the fundraising and engagement efforts of the division.
Job DescriptionThe Student Relations Coordinator provides professional skills and knowledge to support the Alumni Association by building a pipeline of engaged students and future alumni.
This position advises the Student Alumni Association (SAA) , an ambassador group that focuses on philanthropy, volunteerism, professional development, mentorship, and Georgia State pride.
The Alumni Association is seeking an energetic self-starter with a passion for student development, philanthropy , and events.
The role will oversee four large-scale SAA events and more than 10 SAA workshops, social events, partnership events, and more.
Responsibilities:
Student Engagement and EventsAdvises the Student Alumni Association by providing leadership and direction on meetings, recruitment, and program development/execution.
Lead monthly SAA executive board and general body meetings.
Serve as project lead on four large-scale SAA events:
(2) philanthropy focused and (2) student and alumni networking.
This includes venue selection, catering, marketing, coordination, and reporting.
Provide oversight for more than 10 SAA partnership events:
workshops, panels, lunch-and-learns, social events, senior events, and more.
Liaison with the Young Alumni Council, Alumni Board of Directors, and other alumni volunteers to develop program themes and objectives, and source speakers and hosts.
Help develop a pipeline of future donors by educating SAA ambassadors on the significance and importance of philanthropy, and volunteerism, how fundraising operates in higher ed, and the role of peer-to-peer fundraising.
Serve as project lead in the Alumni Association's participation in new student orientation and the graduation fair.
Serve as project lead on the SAA philanthropy career initiative, Panther Blazer Project, and the class ring program.
Provide support for Alumni Association events by sourcing SAA ambassadors to volunteer at check-in and in other critical event roles.
Establish and maintain campus partnerships to include University Bookstore, Athletics, Greek Life, Student Government, Admissions, Career Services, New Student.
Work with campus representatives regarding alumni/student partnerships.
Administrative:
Prepare annual plans, goals, and strategic direction for student philanthropy and engagement.
Track student engagement and prepare annual reports.
Research and recommend additional student programs, which provide professional growth and development to Georgia State students.
Benchmark with institutions to identify best practices to engage alumni and students continually.
Monitor and update social media accounts.
Develop and manage the student relations budget.
Maintain records and systems that assure sound fiscal management as required by the University and Association.
Help prepare the Student Relations Committee report for quarterly Board of Directors meetings.
Represent the Office of Alumni Affairs on University committees and action groups planning joint University/Alumni student events.
Works some nights and weekends and assists with day-of support for Alumni Association events.

Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and four years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Ability to work with constituencies from all disciplines, including donors, faculty, staff, students, and select corporations and foundations.
Experience coordinating large-scale student events and programs.
Experience recruiting, screening, training, and managing volunteers.
Experience working with volunteers.
Experience working with student affairs, student organization s , or student development.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
