8 College Park, GA College Park, GA Full-time Full-time $48,157 a year $48,157 a year 11 hours ago 11 hours ago 11 hours ago General Description The purpose of this classification is to perform professional, technical, and analytical work in the development, implementation, maintenance, management, support and monitoring of the entry and retrieval of information into the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) databanks and other applicable computer systems.
In compliance with applicable GCIC regulations, data including stolen or lost property, vehicles, missing persons, guns, and all active warrants (Magistrate, probation, and FTA) into the GCIC system.
Highly sensitive position, conforming to requirements overseen by the Georgia Bureau of Investigations.
Assists additional units with cybercrime prevention and response, ensuring the police force remains technologically equipped and effective in combating modern-day challenges.
Perform monthly validations, reporting and other related duties as apparent or assigned.
Work is performed under the GCIC/Records Supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position.
Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
Handle the critical technology infrastructure and systems that support various police operations.
Maintains and updates computer networks, databases, software applications, surveillance systems, and other technological tools used by the police.

Process and analyze information collected by the officers to assist in investigations, identify patterns, manage databases, and support decision-making processes.
Responds to GCIC/NCIC hit requests from other agencies; conducts GCIC/NCIC wanted person's inquiry on offenders, missing persons, and stolen property; places detainers/holds on offenders for extradition, immigration, and other local law enforcement agencies; processes apprehension requests for law enforcement agencies to apprehend offenders within a limited timeframe; enters missing persons.
Updates inmate record upon receipt of change request in GBI CCH information; enters warrants; validates GCIC/NCIC warrant entries; modifies and cancels warrants on GCIC/NCIC; Logs and disseminates GCIC/NCIC sensitive information to authorized personnel and/or other law enforcement agencies; monitors GCIC/NCIC Computer Terminal.
Clears and removes all invalid warrants, missing persons, and stolen property entries from the GCIC/NCIC; conducts Criminal History background investigations via GCIC/NCIC computer terminals.
Conducts customer service functions in person, by telephone, by email, or by mail; responds to routine questions and complaints; research problems and initiates problem resolution; refers complex complaints/problems to appropriate personnel.
Operates or uses various equipment and supplies to complete work assignments; operate a personal computer to enter, retrieve, review, or modify data, utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, internet, e-mail, or other systems and software; and operates general office equipment as necessary to complete essential functions.

Analyzes/evaluates data elements from statistical samples through the GBI Validation portal.
Records entries in criminal justice databases for compliance with appropriate Rules of the GCIC Council, laws, regulations, and operational policies.
Perform inquiries against confidential criminal justice databases for compliance with the Rules of the GCIC Council, federal and state laws, and operational procedures.
Analyzes and evaluates data fields of GCIC/NCIC records in department.

Attend training courses as offered by the department or as required by law to maintain applicable certifications.
Processes a variety of documentation associated with department operations within designated timeframe and adherence to established procedures.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent; supplemented by one (1) year of clerical or customer service experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Requires Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) Certification; Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) Network Operator Training; Security and Awareness Training must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.

Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds).
Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.

Environmental Factors:
Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as noise extremes, heights, confined spaces, bright/dim lights, human bites, firearms, violence, disease, pathogenic substances, or rude/irate customers.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
