General Description This classification assists in implementing recreation programs and activities for all ages for the City.
Duties and Responsibilities The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position.
Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
Organizes, instructs and supervises a variety of recreational activities, which may include youth programs, senior programs, special needs programs, fitness programs and classes, sports leagues, and clinics, after-school and summer programs, arts and crafts programs, and special events:
assists in creating and planning programs; teaches classes, clinics, and skills; enforces rules and regulations; maintains safeguards against accidents; transports participants as required.
Conducts customer service functions in person or by telephone; provides information or assistance regarding department services, activities, forms, procedures, fees, or other issues; checks participants in and out of facilities.
Processes registrations for recreation programs; receives and reviews registration forms:
verifies forms for completeness and accuracy; collects and documents fees and other revenues; prepares deposit and daily revenue reports; creates and maintains class and participation logs; collects and analyzes data related to assigned programs.
Promotes programs and activities:
designs and prepares schedules, flyers, and other promotional materials; distributes information; attends meetings to promote recreational programming, answer questions, and provide information.
Ensures the maintenance and preparation of buildings, grounds, and physical facilities in the assigned areas; inspects facilities; conducts general maintenance and custodial duties such as lining fields, cleaning restrooms, sweeping floors, stocking concessions, and removing trash; submits repair requests to appropriate personnel.
Gives tours of facilities; opens/closes facilities; sets up/breaks down tables and chairs; copies and files documents, and enters computer data.
Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures; receives and reviews various documentation, including class rosters, attendance records, registration forms, and payroll deduction forms; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate; prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, and other documentation, including registration information, schedules, calendar of events, lesson plans, class and participation lists, and incident reports; compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports; and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records.
Operates or uses various equipment and supplies in order to complete work assignments:
operates a personal computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data, utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, Internet, e-mail, or other software; and operates general office or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions.
Communicates with supervisor, other employees, clients, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
Additional Functions Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Must possess a high school diploma.
(Associate's Degree preferred) in Parks and Recreation or related experience in parks to include recreational programming; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
CPR and First Aid certifications are preferred.
May also be required to possess and maintain additional certification depending on the area of assignment.
Requires a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
ADA Compliance Physical Ability:
Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds).
Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
Sensory Requirements:
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals.
Some tasks require that ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors:
Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
