Your sommelier career evolution begins here! POSITION SUMMARY We are looking for a Sommelier to act as our wine expert and create wine lists that pair with our food menus.
Sommelier responsibilities include recommending wine varieties to our guests, supervising wine serving and collaborating with winemakers to renew our selections and achieve better prices.
To be qualified for this role, you should have relevant experience in hospitality or a vineyard and be available to work during business hours ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Essential Functions Statement(s) Create and update the wine list in coordination with chefs and the Food and Beverage Manager Recommend food and wine pairings Advise guests on wines based on their personal tastes and food choices Inform guests about different varieties of wines and prices Ensure wines are served at the right temperature and within the proper glassware Store open bottles properly to maintain strong taste Manage wine cellar and ensure it's fully-stocked Train wait staff on available wines Negotiate purchase prices with vendors Organize wine tasting days or wine of the month events Ask guests for ID to verify legal drinking age Comply with all health and safety regulations POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Competency Statement(s) Adaptability & Flexibility - Adapts to changing business needs, conditions, and work responsibilities and works with a variety of situations, individuals, groups, and varying customer needs Attention to Detail - Diligently attends to details and pursues quality in accomplishing tasks Communication - Listens to others and communicates in an effective manner Confidence - A matured and justified self-belief in one's ability to do the job, and the conveyance of that behalf Customer Focus - Builds and maintains customer satisfaction with the services offered by TRC; provides excellent customer service to both guests and team members Initiative - Recognizes situations that warrant initiative and moves forward without hesitation; reasonably resolves issues, problems, or situations Problem Solving - Resolves difficult or complicated challenges Teamwork - Promotes cooperation and commitment within a team to achieve goals and deliverables Requirements:
SKILLS & ABILITIES Education:
High School; able to communicate (speak, read, and write) in English
Experience:
Prior experience as a Sommelier, Wine Steward/Stewardess or similar role Computer Skills:
Experience using a Point of Sale (POS) system Certificates & Licenses:
Sommelier Certification preferred Other Requirements:

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
