Description:
The Payroll Accountant/Analyst will maintain payroll-related general deductions accounts and is responsible for the reconciliation and accuracy of the accounts. Prepares various reports, schedules, and summaries while maintaining a high level of data integrity. Assists with the payroll processing functions and responsibilities while assuring adequate internal controls and accuracy of the financial reporting systems of Grady Health System. Performs periodic internal audits of various payroll areas and prepare materials for external and internal auditors. Assists in the trading and development initiatives of the financial department. Serves as backup to the Director of Payroll.

Job Duties:
Customer Support -
Greets, welcomes, assists and directs staff and vendors.
Collaborates with internal and external business partners.

Financial Reporting -
Performs monthly reconciliation of the payroll liability accounts and prepare all required journal entries.
Coordinates with department managers to ensure the accuracy of
employee
time and attendance reporting.
Extensive involvement in the payroll process; including problem resolutions
Serves as backup to filing the regulatory reports with the reporting agencies, including Federal and State reports.
Investigates payroll best practices and recommends policy and procedural enhancements to improve productivity and cost effectiveness

System Support -
Assists with maintaining the Time & Attendance System in the Kronos application.
Participates in testing of PeopleSoft HCM 9.1 modifications/updates.
Processes daily activity, monthly interfaces, close of monthly and yearly periods, printing of reports, etc.

Regulatory Compliance -
Ensures accurate and timely filing of financial reports to regulatory agencies.
Maintains awareness of changing tax laws and how they impact the reporting process and record keeping requirements of the Health System.
Be sensitive to payroll deadlines and ensure timely paryoll submission every cycle.

Cross Training -
Serves as back up to the Director of Payroll, as needed.
Assists other departments within Finance in crisis situations.

Patient Advocacy -
Advocates for the patient/family rights and education patient/family concerning their responsibilities.

Performance Improvement -
Participates in continuous performance improvement.

Required Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field is required.
Three (3) years' experience reconciling payroll GL accounts in a high volume accounting/payroll department required
Service orientation to meet the needs of the associates, managers, and business of GHS.
Proficient in using Microsoft Office suite of tools (Outlook, Word, Excel) required
Strong leadership, team building, and communication skills (verbal and written)
Three (3) years PeopleSoft Financial/HCM work experience required.
Strong problem solving and process improvement skills.
FPC or CPP certification is a plus

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
