REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is required. A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred with Minimum of 8
years of Experience.
8-10 yrs of High Speed (Logic and Bus Design)
8-10 yrs of embedded controls
Hands on in embedded C and assembly
6-8 yrs of product development utilizing embedded control and application hardware to interface motors, pumps, valves and sensors.
4-6 yrs of system design in a distributed embedded multiprocessing architecture
4-6 yrs of providing design engineering support to sustain an installed base of product, including bug fixes, planned maintenance upgrades and End of Life considerations. International experience in this area is a plus.
4-6 yrs of wireless communication technologies (e.g. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc.) desirable
Knowledge of Regulatory and Compliance for domestic and international e.g. FCC, UL , CE
Additionally, this role is responsible for:
Designing and developing electrical/electronic boards and assemblies compliant with domestic and international regulatory standards. These include Single board computers, embedded control boards and other daughter/side boards that perform motor, pump, valve and sensor controls
Unassisted design, development and sustaining of Embedded Control based hardware/firmware and other facilitating analog and digital electronic circuitry.
Proficient in debugging hardware and firmware issues to support and maintain the existing electronic circuitry
Familiar with embedded C and assembly language programming/debug for firmware development and support
Being knowledgeable of domestic and international regulatory bodies and standards ( FCC, UL)
Developing, stewarding and managing mid-level technical supplier relationships for specific equipment platforms and for specific customer requirements.
Providing input to and implementing strategies and technical development plans to ensure the product's competitive advantage in quality, cost, technical performance
Detailed Requirements / Preferences:
Embedded control based digital and analog electronic hardware design, simulation, prototype and test, hardware/software debug and defect resolution, data analysis, project management, manufacturing, and customer experience required.
Experience developing and deploying new subsystems, features, enhancements and bug fixes into an existing installed base of legacy systems at live customer sites.
Embedded software skills such as embedded C programming preferred with motor, pump, valve and sensor controls with interface electronics.
Experience with domestic and international regulatory agency approvals for product safety, electromagnetic emissions and susceptibility and other environmental impairments preferred. Experience with regulatory aspects of food handling systems a plus.
Requires excellent oral and written communication skills to influence and negotiate with senior leadership: - the timelines and solutions to technical problems; - the suitability of design components, equipment materials and technical design modifications; - any new technical concepts and their associated costs and capital investments; - any risks or dependencies to the project or program; - clearly distinguish between fact and professional opinion in all communication - work with development partners to build solutions and communicate effectively to build consensus on technical viewpoints - Requires effective communication with cross-functional teams and management.
Function Specific Activities:
Utilizes lab and field testing to evaluate equipment or products against technical requirements, fit to concept or performance specifications (e.g. functionality and operational feasibility)
Applies fundamental engineering tools and concepts (such as Design for Manufacturing and Testability, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Root Cause Analysis) to equipment design, manufacturing processes, and customer applications in order to improve quality, costs, efficiencies, or fitness for use.
Apply experience, concepts, and techniques to problem-solving and business planning.
Applies methodologies that build in design flexibility and facilitate future extension of the design.
Decides whether technical test results are acceptable and uses analytical / problem solving skills to determine why performance failures occur.
Identifies system level impact of local design weaknesses. Identifies impact of component, circuitry or code defects/failures on the larger system. Identify how these issues may appear in system error log reports (defect signature).
Technical Skills:
Complex problem-solving: The ability to identify technical performance gaps, use data mining and analytical tools to characterize the business impact and identify root causes, and use engineering skills and tools to develop and implement solutions to complex problems with significant impact to performance or customers.
Engineering Skills: Knowledge of and the ability to understand, design, apply and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems
Managing Technical Supplier Relationships: Knowledge of and the ability to influence technical relationships for design improvement, manufacturing efficiencies, and quality management
Quality Management: Knowledge of and the ability to apply and implement fundamental principles of Total Quality Management Systems within the Client operating entities and cross-functional stakeholders.
