Job Description The Infrastructure Business Line of ARCADIS is looking for a Junior to Mid-Level Traffic Engineer to join the team in Atlanta, GA. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of traffic engineering experience.
Position responsibilities to include:
Assisting senior engineers in the preparation of traffic engineering plans for signal designs, signing and markings designs, and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) designs.
Assisting senior engineers with concept report preparation and conceptual designs for intersection improvements.
Additional responsibilities will include operational analysis using microscopic simulation for intersections, corridors, and interchange traffic.
Specifically, we are looking for a candidate with the interest and knowledge in traffic engineering design, transportation modeling (microsimulation), and traffic operations. One of the key requirements of this position is strong verbal and written communication skills.
Typical assignments would include the following:
Use of Microstation in developing plan sets as well as conceptual renderings.
Use of Synchro and Sim Traffic for the analysis of traffic signal operations
Perform field observations for traffic analysis
Collect existing field conditions data for design and analysis
Compile and analyze field data
Prepare memorandums summarizing analysis work
Preparing concept reports and conceptual designs for intersection improvements
Prepare cost estimates for design work
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and a minimum of 2 year of relevant work experience.
Candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and must be able to work well in groups as well as independently.
Experience in one or more of the following areas: GDOT design standards, ITS design, Traffic Operations Studies, Intersection Conceptual drafting, and Safety Studies.
Proficient in the use of traffic design tools such as Microstation.
Varied experience in the use of traffic analysis tools such as Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, and VISSIM.
Candidate must have hands-on experience with CADD software, including the most recent versions of Microstation and/or AutoCAD.
Proficiency in applying traffic operations and traffic design principles and applicable MUTCD, AASHTO, ITE and state DOT requirements, policies, manuals and procedures
Candidates must also possess a valid driver's license and personal transportation
