Role Overview
The purpose of the Supply Chain Lead Metal Inputs is to synchronize the purchasing and planning of all inputs for Novelis North America Southern System plants in support of the Can and Specialty Products value stream ingot and Hot Mill production. The management of metal inputs includes system wide generation of Run-around scrap, and third party purchases of scrap and sheet ingot. Additionally, the role will also lead and execute the ongoing development and implementation of reporting and analysis, tracking and reporting on Key Performance Indicators, lead project teams to improve operations, actively manage inventory positions, metal flow, and forecasting/planning, lead weekly Ingot calls for third party ingot purchases, provide and drive SAP support and development through project teams
Responsibilities
Clearly understand the metal flow, input consumption abilities, input strategy, EBITDA and cash flow objectives set forth in the strategic plan
Communicate strategic direction to remelt planning personnel and metal buyers as to the metal mix required to meet strategic objectives
Lead and support the ongoing delivery and development of the Sales and Operating Plan, Annual Budget, and Strategic Planning Process
Adjust metal input buffers in order to meet inventory objectives and continuity of sheet ingot supply
Active management and leadership of input buy signals, run around scrap generation and consumption, third party sheet ingot positions and purchases, and overall input inventory positions
Lead the daily management, Forecasting, and Annual Planning process for metal inputs
Lead and drive the S&OP process for Metal Inputs. Provide data and management information and analysis on behalf of the Can and Specialty Value Stream
Develop business process and sustainable IT systems (SAP and Legacy) to continuously improve business performance relative to metal inputs, sheet ingot and inventory
Develop tools that can be used to quickly and accurately assess supply, capacity and inventory issues and opportunities. Use these tools to improve financial performance
Represent Supply Chain relative to the management of 3rd party sheet ingot supply and delivery performance. Participate in joint supplier improvement teams
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or other analytical field, and / or equivalent experience.
Four to six years of experience in a large complex manufacturing environment, preferably aluminum, casting, rolling and / or recycling.
Knowledge of aluminum scrap, manufacturing, and recycle process preferred
Working understanding and practical application with aluminum alloys preferred
In-depth knowledge of manufacturing process and business policy and practices preferred
Excellent communication (oral and written) skills; ability to communicate, lead, and drive performance and change with all levels in the organization
Desire to take initiative and develop a pro-active relationship with internal and external customers and suppliers.
Proven record of success and expanded responsibility within a growing and complex organization
Must be flexible and able to operate in a fast-paced environment
Matrix organization experience
Ability to organize and prioritize workload; must be able to manage multiple tasks at once without sacrificing attention to detail
SAP Experience
Strong analytical skills with advanced proficiency in Excel.
Strong understanding of relational database design and query tools
Ability to perform work accurately and independently
Detail-oriented, flexible to change and able to work in a fast paced environment
