Nature and Scope:
Under the guidance and direction of the Associate Executive Director, the Assistant Director of Aquatics must administer aquatic programs and policies, as defined in accordance with the goals, policies, and procedures of the Association. This position may also be called upon to support the branch's day camp program.
The East Lake Family YMCA is located at 275 East Lake Blvd SE, Atlanta, GA 30317.
Minimum Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree required and experience in related field.
Two (2) or more years related aquatics experience and training and development of high performing teams.
Must have a background in staff team development and relationship management.
Seeks, cultivates and supervises volunteers.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Strong customer service skills.
Hands on experience with utilizing data to make an informed decisions.
Personal commitment to service and hospitality.
If internal to the YMCA, must have a minimum YMCA Team Leader certification
Responsibilities:
Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule, supervise, and evaluate the Aquatics department, employees and volunteers.
Develop and implement a plan to attract and recruit new members and corporate partnerships.
Conduct pilots for new programs; develop plans and manage best practices through engagement of the staff team.
Effectively manage budgets; hold staff accountable for high-quality results using a formal process to measure progress.
Foster a climate of innovation.
Monitor progress towards branch's goals by running and reviewing all necessary reports.
Lead the Y's presence at community outreach, including Healthy Kid's Day.
Coordinates marketing efforts to maximize enrollments and provides ongoing support to the Director on related issues.
Critical competencies based on needs specific to role:
This position requires a basic understanding of the nature of the YMCA and the Aquatic Programs offered by the YMCA.
Must exhibit a broad range of aquatic programs. In addition, this person must have general knowledge of pool mechanics with ability to trouble shoot pool pump breakdowns, budgeting, equipment and facility management, supervision of staff, planning and organization.
Required certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid, current Lifeguard Certification preferred but will accept expired certification with the understanding it must be renewed in 30 days, Fundamental of Swimming, Teaching Parent Child and Preschool, Teaching Youth and Adult, and Lifeguard Instructor Certifications required.
Must be YMCA Lifeguard certified within six months of employment.
Develops a weekly schedule for lifeguards and instructors.
Planning, organizing, overseeing, and teaching of swimming classes for the aquatic programs.
Organize, promote and/or teach the following programs: Private Swim Lessons, SCUBA, Lifeguard Training, and CPR, and Masters Swim Team.
Responsible for day-to-day operations and pool maintenance and water chemistry. Able to utilize and use chemicals for everyday operations. Assists with ordering pool supplies and equipment.
Teaches classes throughout the year.
Responsible for WHY IT MATTERS Fundraising Campaign goals.
Promotes membership and program enrollment, assimilates new members and participants into Aquatic Programs.
Cooperates closely with other YMCA staff and volunteers to provide quality services for the members and follows all stated emergency procedures.
Responsible for the care of the building, grounds and equipment of the YMCA through regular evaluation of cleanliness and safety.
EFFECT ON END RESULT: This position has a primary impact on the overall effectiveness of the branch and the success of programs and services to the community. The effectiveness of this position is primarily measured by the sound department administration, the stated satisfaction of staff and members and a sound fiscal position of those departments.
Ergonomics: Sitting, bending, stooping, standing, 15% repetitive keyboard work, seeing, verbal communications, lift up to 25 pounds.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
