Virtual Construction Engineer Assistant PM

Mckenney's Inc. is seeking a Virtual Construction Engineer to join our team in Atlanta, GA. In this exciting role the Virtual Construction Engineer (VC Engineer) will work in a team environment to develop 3D Revit or CAD fabrication drawings from 2D construction documents or redline mark ups from Project Engineers that are consistent with the standards set forth by the McKenney's Inc. Primary interface to the other areas of our business include Operations (both project management and field), and fabrication shops. Regular interactions with project managers, field foremen, shop foremen, McKenney's BIM team members and other trade subcontractor BIM personnel will be required.
The VC Engineer will have secondary reporting responsibilities to a Profit Center Manager of a specific Operations Group to develop working knowledge and relationships with that side of the business.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Utilize McKenney's drafting standards to create clear and legible Building Information Models (BIM) and shop drawings.
Model all equipment and HVAC and plumbing systems as real life entities that reflect actual shape, size and access requirements.
Leverage your engineering and/or construction knowledge with the acquired BIM skills to develop new ideas and processes to save time and decrease construction costs.
Participate in BIM meetings both internally and with project construction teams to develop fully coordinated virtual 3D models.
Produce fabrication drawings, spools sheets and sheet metal CAM files to drive production in our fabrication shops.
Leverage McKenney's workflows and technology to produce all documents/models within budget and in timely manner to meet the commitments to our customers, both internal and external.
Effectively communicate with project managers, project engineers and field foremen during the development of the virtual models and through construction.
Support the mobile technology workflow to provide timely documentation to our field and project management teams.
Interface with the Profit Center Manager of the assigned Operations Group to attend monthly meetings, develop relationships with members of that team and cultivate an understanding of the project management side of the business.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology or building construction
At least 6 months experience with AutoCAD, Revit or similar drafting software.
Must have basic PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Working knowledge of Autodesk Navisworks.
Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural construction documents.
Experience with the design aspects of pipe sizing, duct sizing, etc.
Ability to visualize in a 3D environment from 2D layouts/drawings.

Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed as well as determine and manage priorities with minimal guidance.
