Position Description:

We are looking for a motivated, talented individual interested in a manufacturing leadership role with significant growth opportunity to join our organization as a Maintenance Planner in our Atlanta, GA facility.
JOB SUMMARY
The Maintenance Planner schedules the Maintenance work activity in the plant. That includes maintenance work in Furnace, Forehearth, IS Machine, Inspection, Systems. The Planner prepares efficient and effective work plans for all Preventive, Predictive, Condition-Based, and Project/Backlog Maintenance work. The Planner works with the Storeroom Team to ensure parts are available and ready; ensures internal and external labor resources are available; and coordinates execution of the plan in conjunction with the production schedule through working with the Production Scheduler in a timely manner. The Maintenance Planner supports the Line Mechanics by providing expert guidance and maintains open flow of communication up and down the maintenance chain. The planner identifies and escalates problems proactively. The Maintenance Planner tracks results, pushing for execution of improvement projects, initiating focused projects based on Maintenance trends, and participating in process improvement initiatives. The Maintenance Planner interfaces with the Environmental, Health and Safety functions and processes of the plant to ensure that maintenance activities support improved safety for employees and compliance to local environmental compliance.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Maintain Asset Condition 20%
Develop and manage Manufacturing Fundamentals planned maintenance work orders in SAP PM and issue to maintenance managers and maintenance staff for completion.
Coordinate with JCC and production staff to plan maintenance during downtime and maintain a planned maintenance schedule for the facility.
Provide documentation of upcoming work, including parts lists / kits required.
Manage Maintenance Cost & Effectiveness 10%
Review and improve the maintenance and planning processes to improve efficiency and remove waste, including but not limited to cost, manning and materials.
Understand storeroom inventories, min/max, and work with storeroom personnel to manage parts inventory and prioritize ordering against available M&E budgets.
Work with production scheduling and provide input on work orders based on maintenance capacity, parts inventory, scheduled projects, and maintenance resources.
Manage vendor relationships in order to centralize within the plant.
Facilitate Investigation of Asset Failures 15%
Work with plant uptime team to investigate downtime events and develop root cause corrective actions designed to prevent repeat failures.
Record breakdown maintenance work orders in the SAP PM system and analyze breakdown maintenance trends to identify opportunities for improved repair practices / maintenance frequencies to improve asset reliability and uptime.
Support Plant Safety and Environmental Initiatives 10%
Interface with the safety observation, walk-and-talk and near-miss processes within the plant to ensure alignment of maintenance resources and activities to improve employee safety and environmental compliance.
Facilitate and Manage Maintenance Systems 30%
Manage SAP PM assets in the system and ensure that work orders are adequate, applicable, populated and used.
Record and manage completed maintenance work orders, including tracking of parts used and documentation in the SAP PM system of completion.
Manage contractors on small term/scale projects
Support Team Performance & Continuous Improvement 15%
Serve as backup to the Plant Engineer and work with him/her to understand that role.
Facilitate regularly occurring meetings with maintenance staff, including maintenance pre- and post-meetings and tracks key metrics associated with maintenance, including uptime and work order completion rates.
Position Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum of Associate degree in a technical discipline OR 1-3 years' experience in plant maintenance and engineering.
Experience as a Maintenance Planner and SAP PM preferred
1-3 years' experience working as a mechanic or in a hands on capacity preferred
Computer literacy and proficiency required
BS in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, or civil) preferred
Strong communication, organization, planning and interpersonal skills
Must be highly analytical with mechanical, electrical, or technical background
An in-depth understanding of manufacturing processes, machines, tools equipment, materials, etc.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports to Plant Engineer and has no direct reports
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Some travel may be required within the North American region (up to 10%).
