Life Scientist/Ecologist/Physical Scientist

You will:
- Serve as a coordinator among Water Division programs and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Section on projects;- Advise on the adverse ecological impacts of hydromodification and other activities that include channelization and channel modification;- Review Clean Water Act (CWA) Section 404 and related documentation for water supply and multi-purpose projects to impound, divert, or withdraw water;- Provide expert advice and assistance to state, local and/or tribal governments on matters relating to impacts to aquatic resources, regulatory requirements, and options for stream, wetland protection, and restoration.You will spend less than 25% of your work time on contracts, grants/cooperative agreements, and/or interagency agreements. In addition to the educational requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:
To qualify for the GS-13 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-12 level defined as advising on ecological impacts to wetlands and streams; coordinating across programs on the National Environmental Policy Act and/or Clean Water Act.Your answers to the on-line assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:
1) Ability to coordinate projects; 2) Ability to advise on ecological impacts to wetlands and streams; 3) Knowledge of environmental statutes and regulations; 4) Skill in written communication; and 5) Skill in oral communication.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
