As a Supervisory Mathematical Statistician you will:
Participate in and advise on overall program planning and policy formulation for the Division. Establish long-term goals, program priorities, and standards of performance. Plan, direct, implement and evaluate branch level objectives and projects. Provide administrative and technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit. Plans and assign duties, responsibilities and projects and assess effective accomplishments. Direct the statistical design and development of studies investigating epidemiologic and other questions about infections and diseases. Monitor and maintain statistical and data management standards for organization level activities. Communicate complex scientific information for decision papers and/or response to data calls. Communicate technical information and/or survey and research findings for publication in scientific journals. Create written materials for a variety of uses and for dissemination to a wide variety of audiences. Translate complex scientific data and information into plain language documents for lay audiences. Qualifications:
Degree:
that included 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics and 6 semester hours were in statistics. OR Combination of education and experience that includes at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, including at least 12 semester hours in mathematics and 6 semester hours in statistics, as show in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Courses acceptable toward meeting the mathematics course requirement above much have included at least four of the following:
differential calculus, integral calculus, and advanced calculus, theory of equations, vector analysis, advanced algebra, linear algebra, mathematical logic, differential equations, or any other advanced course in mathematics for which one of these was a prerequisite. AND, In addition to meeting the basic entry qualification requirements, applicant must have one year of specialized experience as annotated below:

Qualifications:
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level of in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include developing, coordinating and implementing quantitative science and data management services for HIV-related data in surveillance, epidemiologic or behavioral studies; developing or utilizing mathematical models to understand the current and future behavior of HIV epidemic; and providing leadership in the application of statistical or quantitative sciences expertise and data management knowledge, and overseeing the overall planning, direction and execution of complex scientific work groups, committees, teams or branches. Experience:
In accordance with Office of Personnel Management policy, federal employees are assumed to have gained experience by performing duties and responsibilities appropriate for their official series and grade level as described in their position description. Experience that would not normally be part of the employee's position is creditable, however, when documented by satisfactory evidence, such as a signed memorandum from the employee's supervisor or an SF-50 or SF-52 documenting an official detail or other official assignment. The documentation must indicate whether the duties were performed full time or, if part time, the percentage of times the other duties were performed. It is expected that this documentation is included in the employee's official personnel record. In order to receive credit for experience in your resume that is not within the official series and grade level of your official position, you must provide a copy of the appropriate documentation of such experience as indicated above.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
