JOB SUMMARY

Supports the educational needs of patients whose medical condition impacts their learning experience through a program that includes educational programming within the hospital system, education for patients/families regarding school services available in the community, and education for patients local schools regarding how the medical condition will impact learning.

  • The position serves the in- patient CIRU (rehab) unit, as well as the day patient rehab population located across the street from the Scottish-Rite campus.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field

CERTIFICATION SUMMARY

  • Must be eligible for and obtain Georgia teaching certificate within 90 days of employment

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

EXPERIENCE

  • Two years of experience in teaching in a public school system

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Hospital-related experience

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of classroom procedures
  • Knowledge of state and federal educational laws and requirements
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of 504 plans and individualized education programs
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provides instruction for school-age patients.
  2. Educates the patient and family regarding school services and supports the process of setting up appropriate services.
  3. Serves as a liaison between the hospital, school system, and parents.
  4. Provides information to the medical and support teams regarding school needs and available school services.
  5. Documents and maintains updated patient information in the medical record regarding services provided.
  6. Supervises School Program volunteers.

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety:
Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

Compliance:
Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
