JOB SUMMARY

This Psychologist role will be part of the Behavioral and Mental Health (BMH) team and focus on care delivery in the outpatient setting to increase access for children presenting with BMH needs while integrating with experts across Children's and in the community.


The Children's BMH outpatient referral clinics are built on a hub and spoke model concept and will include a physical stand-alone referral clinic (hub) and distributed clinics with experts embedded in existing medical practices and community primary care practices (spokes).


EDUCATION
  • Doctor of Philosophy or Doctor of Psychology

CERTIFICATION SUMMARY
  • Georgia licensed psychologist
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment

EXPERIENCE
  • Four years of experience in direct assessment and care of pediatric patients in an inpatient and/or outpatient setting
  • Experience in conducting clinical supervision

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in providing family therapy/counseling
  • Experience in writing and research

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Clinical responsibilities for 47 weeks/year.
  • Clinical Outpatient:
    a minimum of 4 days per week (32 hours/8 clinic equivalents) and 1 day (8 hours/2 clinic equivalents) of indirect patient care and academic activities.
  • Clinical caseload includes patient care, case management for patients, conducting evaluations, oversight of clinical staff, and supervision of trainees with specific emphasis on caring for children with anxiety, depression, somatic symptoms, medical care adherence and conduct/behavior challenges.
  • Clinical caseload may also include care delivery through a co-management model which is a multidisciplinary approach integrated within a primary care practice.
  • Clinics to be held at the Children's Behavioral and Mental Health clinic and related Children's Healthcare of Atlanta facilities. Clinics may also be held at community primary care practices as part of the BMH co-management care model.
  • Participation in a model of care centered around integrated, multidisciplinary services, with seamless collaborations with psychiatry, psychology, social work, medical specialties and other behavioral and mental health disciplines.
  • Participation in Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and Children's Care Network Activities (e.g. quality forum, QI initiatives) that is required for practice to remain member in good standing.
  • Demonstrate a pattern of excellence and ongoing contributions in clinical care.
  • Education of pre-doctoral interns, post-doctoral fellows, medical residents, and students in psychology, medicine and other health-related professions during usual conduct of care.

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety:
Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.



Compliance:
Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
