Objective; Utilizing my accumulated work skills as a Registered Medical Assistant.

As a Medical Assistant my primary responsibility is to provide basic patient care in an ambulatory clinic setting. This includes; initiating medical history, vital signs, preparing patients for examination, reporting special problems or concerns to providers. Making appropriate clinic appointments for patients and follow up to determine that appointments were kept. Called in prescriptions/refills and did prior authorizations when needed, to ensure all patients received their prescribed medications. Assisted patients with the patient assistant program for medications. I was utilized as a technician performing capsule endoscopies and developing DVD reports of such. Directing phone calls to appropriate personnel. Scanning of patient records into the EMR System.
June 2004-February 2006: Georgia Medical Institute, Atlanta, Georgia. Medical Instructor.
As a RMA Instructor, my leadership and communications skills were demonstrated through the educating of students in the Medical Assisting Course as required by the AMT/AMA Associations. My teachings included clinical skills, anatomy, physiology as well as theory. I had the responsibly to assure the medical assistant’s competence in performing services at the appropriate standard of care. My administrative duties consisted of completing reports on student evaluations, attendance, progress reports and grades on a timely basis. I was responsible for a weekly learning agenda and testing. I am also a CPR Instructor, Certified by the American Heart Association.
August 1999-June 2004: RMA, Emory Clinic, Atlanta, Georgia.
As a Medical Assistant, my responsibilities included performing administrative and clinical task to keep the clinic running smoothly. My assignments in the Internal Medicine Department called on coordinating with several doctors and residents to deliver quality patient care within the scope of my administrative duties. Completed insurance forms, handled correspondence, scheduled appointments and arranged for hospital admissions. My clinical duties included performing throat swabs, urine analyses, EKG’S, vital signs, bandage dressings, ear irrigations and eye exams. Assisted in Sigmoidoscopy examinations.
October 1998-August 1999: TLC Laser Eye Centers, Atlanta, Georgia. RMA.
Examinations on patients for refractive eye surgery. Corneal pachymetry audio refraction and computer topography, traditional visual acuity testing. Assisted in LASIK, RK and PRK surgeries.
