This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta. ALL OF OUR SALES INCLUDE A 7 DAY FULL SATISFACTION GUARANTEE Description This banjo is an exceptional example of a Gibson Custom Shop and was also made during the Greg Rich era. The story on this was the banjo was originally made for Pat Cloud but I have no evidence to support that claim. This has an original Kulesh AFP Tone Ring along with a Thick 3/4 inch shell. This has a 3/4 inch shell with a curly maple neck and resonator each with w/b/w binding. The fretboard is ebony with a custom inlay pattern. The hardware is gold and engraved with the Granada pattern. The flange is a 2 piece flange and the tone ring is an AFP Kulesh Tone Ring, both of which are original. The thumb screws even are custom and feature engraving and the back of the headstock features the Gibson Custom Shop Badge. This is a very rare and very special Banjo that already has Gold Keith D Tuners along with an original case. The inside of the resonator is signed by Bela Fleck and the label is signed by Greg Rich. The original tuners are included in the case but the grommet for one of them came off of a nickel set of 5 star planet tuners and would nee to be replated. That however is very cheap and very easy to do. Condition This banjo is gorgeous and has been cleaned at the Banjo Warehouse. There is a touch of wear worn off of the armrest on the edge but that is basically the only actual wear on the gold. There is some light tarnish on a bit of the gold which couldn't be cleaned but not really any other wear. The resonator has some light checking and a handful of tiny dings but the finish looks fantastic. The neck and fretboard are in fantastic shape with clean frets and spikes at the 7th and 9th frets. I saw an almost invisible surface scratch or possibly split in the surface veneer on the back of the resonator when I took the resonator off. This is so small that a lot of people would never see it and will effect nothing. This banjo is gorgeous with a clean original case. Set Up This has been set up at the Banjo Warehouse. This has a new Remo frosted head which is set to 90 on a drum dial. The banjo is properly intonated. The strings are new Huber Truetone .10s and this banjo plays GREAT!! This is truly set up for maximum, tone, volume and function. There are not many Rich era Custom Shop Banjos. My understanding is about 20 were made and I know of just one collector that has 7 or more of these 20. This banjo is rare and very special and this sort of thing does not come up for sale often.
