Vehicle Description Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this exquisitely restored 1929 Ford Model A Station Wagon.
Affectionately known as the Woody (or Woodie, depending on your preference), 1929 was the first year of the factory-built wood station wagon and it ushered in an era of wood-paneled cars that lasted through the 1950s (followed by another several decades of vinyl wood-grain applique to replicate the wood look).
Finished to a furniture-grade standard, the wood body is excellent and all steel components (frame, engine cowl and fenders) are straight and solid.
The fenders and running boards are finished in black, while the cowl is painted in period-correct Manillla Brown (a dark tan shade).
Seats are trimmed in an attractive dark grey/brown material; the right front seat folds and flips forward to allow easier access to the rear seat.
All of the factory gauges and controls are working as they should; a bud vase has been added to the pillar behind the driver's seat.
It's a charming and attractive example that never fails to turn heads.
Mechanically, this Model A was restored to the same high standard, with a rebuilt engine, transmission, new clutch and fully overhauled suspension, steering, and brake components.
Drivetrain is stock.
No, it doesn't drive like a modern car, but it starts, runs and drives better than most Model As.
Fewer than 1,200 miles since the restoration.
This woody wagon would be a welcome addition to any collection.
