Vehicle Description Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this very special 1962 Pontiac Bonneville convertible.
This PHS-documented Bonneville is optioned with a Tri-Power 389 cubic inch V8, 4-speed manual transmission, heavy duty brakes with 8-lug wheels, bucket seats with console, dual exhaust, deluxe radio, power steering and tinted glass - a rare and desirable spec.
Finished in correct Cameo Ivory over red leather interior and in largely un-restored / survivor condition.
Its long-term owner was transferred overseas in the mid 1980s, and this car and another 1962 Pontiac (a Star Chief offered separately) were placed in a corporate storage facility in middle Georgia.
It was stored properly - inside, covered and on jack stands.
It was drained of fluids except for oil and the owner would return yearly to oil the cylinders and turn the engine by hand; he even chocked the clutch linkage so the disk wouldn't get stuck to the flywheel.
It remained in the same corner of the same warehouse for 35 years until our recent acquisition.
Recommissioning work in our shop consisted of a fuel pump rebuild, fuel tank cleaned and lined, brake master cylinder and front wheels cylinders, original radiator repair and cleaning, full tune up, fluids, tires, convertible top pump replacement and more.
The front end was rebuilt just prior to being put in storage, so suspension and steering items are essentially new.
It is now running and driving beautifully - the 389 is very smooth and nearly silent at idle, but dig into the throttle and open up the three two-barrel carbs and it pulls like a freight train.
Lights, wipers, gauges and even the original Delco AM radio are working properly; the clock is inop.
We believe that this Bonneville had one repaint in the 1970s or early 1980s - it was done to a nice standard and remains in very presentable condition.
The car is in otherwise beautifully preserved original condition.
Original leather seating surfaces remain soft, the wood applique on the dash is in good condition, the beautiful console between the bucket seats looks fantastic and the houses the working tachometer.
The body is straight and looks good underneath, the doors close nicely with good gaps and the original chrome is in good condition.

Georgia chapter car show at Boomershine Pontiac in 1981 and is largely in that same condition as it was 40 years ago.
A trunk full of NOS and spare parts and an original 1962 owner's manual are included.
